This week on the Biggest Loser, we began by finding out that Darrell lost the challenge with Cheryl and was eliminated.
It was tough for me, since I liked them both and didn’t want either one to leave.
Then, Alison Sweeney told them that the competition was now becoming Team Blue vs. Team Black. And there would be a competition to determine which person would divide the teams.
The only two people who wanted to participate were Michael and Drea. They had to play a game of high stakes “Memory” where they would match items behind little doors. If they matched two food items, their opponent had to eat that item. If they didn’t match in that turn, they had to eat a cookie worth 100 calories. If they matched two golden tickets, they would decide the teams.
After Michael had eaten a total of 2310 calories, he won the challenge. Drea had eaten a total of 1120 calories. Those are all going to be tough to take off during the week!
He stacked all the deck, so to speak. He put all the heavy-hitters on one team and the lightweights on the other. He felt that would give him a better chance of staying. Instead of taking Immunity for himself, he gave it to O’Neal. O’Neal would join the losing team for the week.
Everyone, including Bob & Jillian, were upset with Michael for the way he divided the teams. So they all had to work harder than ever that week.
Next, the teams had to compete in a challenge and the winning team would get letters from home. They had to hoist their team flag to the top of a tall building first. The Blue team won, so they and O’Neal all got letters to enjoy.
The contestants all went to see Dr. H for an update on their weight. All of them found out that they had already improved their weight and lengthened their life expectancy in the 7 weeks on the ranch. It was a great incentive to continue working hard to lose the weight.
Here’s how the weigh-in went this week:
There was a difficult and emotional voting session when the Blue team voted to send home Miggy.
Miggy was an incredible competitor. She had her appendix removed and still worked to lose lots of weight that week.
Darrell continues to work hard at home too. It’s going to be exciting to see how well he and Miggy do from home.
What did you think of this week’s episode? Do you feel that Michael was justified to divide the teams the way he did? Which team are you for now? Let us know!

On this week’s episode of Celebrity Fit Club, Harvey began by telling the celebs that last week’s weigh-in was a disappointment. Tanisha, in particular, did not lose any weight last week.
Sebastian was annoyed with her too, because she had bailed on him for a hiking workout during the week. So he started the week upset with Tanisha and things just got worse.
Harvey had them complete a “mission” to get lots of huge wooden boxes of supplies up a steep hill, put up a huge tent and get all the supplies inside. It was muddy, cold and raining.
The tension between Sebastian & Tanisha exploded during the challenge. Sebastian started yelling and throwing things around and even pushed a cameraman. Tanisha was screaming obscenities at him and throwing a tantrum. So the blue team lost the challenge because of them.
Later that night, Tanisha approached Sebastian and they discussed things. They both apologized to each other, then to all the rest of the celebs, the cameraman and Harvey.
Next, Rhonda took them all to watch videos of their support systems at home. Everyone got emotional when they watched their family members encourage them. Shar had some difficulty when Kevin’s new girlfriend was giving him support. She’s still hurt by their failed relationship.
The next day, the celebs got coaching on how to dance “stepping” style. Sebastian had a tough time picking it up, but he finally got the hang of it. I have to say that it looked like a lot of fun!!
Then came the weigh-in. Here’s how it went this week:
Kevin is in the lead with “Fit Factor” points. And I have to say that I have come to think he’s a very cool guy this season so far. He just seems so low-key and calm about things. He’s also very respectful toward Shar too. I like that.
What did you think of this week’s volatile episode? Let us know!

We haven’t gotten to see a new episode of the Biggest Loser for a while because of the Olympics. [sigh] But to keep you motivated, here are a couple of trainer tips from the show.
In this first one, Celebrity Chef Curtis Stone gives us a great cooking tip for weight loss. (Be sure to also watch for him on the new season of Celebrity Apprentice!
In this clip, Jillian Michaels gives us a great low-calorie snack recipe! It sounds delicious!
This week on Celebrity Fit Club, the celebs got a training sessino from a world class UFC champion. Apparently, they learned a few moves they can use to protect themselves.
In this clip, Shar Jackson demonstrates how she bruised Bobby Brown’s ribs. Yikes! Then they all show off their new “Warrior Moves.” All I can say is that no one should ever try to sneak up on any of these folks, ever again!
Tonight’s Biggest Loser episode began with Alison Sweeney explaining the week’s challenge. Each team would have a “Teacher” and a “Student”. The teachers would get instructions and information from Bob & Jillian, and they would have to teach their teammate student. Then, the students’ weight would be the only one that counted at the weigh-in.
In order to find out who would assign the team members to their roles, they had to do a Temptation Challenge. The person who ate more than anyone else would assign everyone’s roles. Then, Alison revealed two giant vats of candy. Yikes!
The Pink team won in by only eating two pieces of candy totaling 10 calories. They assigned the roles, but regretted the pressure they felt doing it.
Migdalia had a bad attitude about the program of the week and emotionally shut down. When Jillian tried to get her to open up, she said she wanted to go home. Luckily, Miggy & Bob talked her into staying on the ranch.
The teachers were happy to see celebrity chef Curtis Stone in the kitchen to teach them about cooking healthy. Of course, then they had to go teach their teammate.
This week’s big Immunity Challenge had each of the teachers unraveling 1000 feet of ribbon all over a playground. Then, the Students would draw for the ribbon they would follow and re-wind. The winning team got immunity. They would also get the ability to switch one team’s teacher & student.
Once the ribbons were in a huge tangled mess on a playground, Alison told them that each team’s student would be untangling their own teacher’s ribbon…blindfolded.
The Gray team won immunity and at the weigh-in, they decided to switch the White team’s roles. Michael had been slacking and they wanted him to know he needed to step it up.
Here’s how the weigh-ins went:
Michael’s less than enthusiastic work all week really did him in. Maria begged the others to send her home in order to help Michael, but they were torn about what to do. The teams voted and Maria was sent home. And Michael got a serious wake up call…if he decides to use it.
We got to see Maria today and she’s lost 51 lbs. so far. She even looks healthier. And Jillian helped her see that she could overcome her fear of water so she went home and got a coach who taught her to swim. Good for her!!
This moring, Meredith Viera interviewed the Coles family on the Today Show. Their story in that interview was already inspiring. But we’ll get to follow the beginning of their life-changing journey starting tomorrow on TLC when their new show One Big Happy Family airs.
What’s so special about this average family? The fact that they each got bad news from their family doctor about their health risks and decided as a family to change their lifestyle and lose weight together. So far, they’ve each lost 40-65 lbs. and they are still losing.
This six-part series profiles the Coles, a close-knit family of four dealing with life as a morbidly obese household. Weighing in at a collective 1,400 pounds, each half-hour episode follows the family on their journey of self-improvement-chronicling everything from their everyday struggles to the larger picture of why they overeat-as they attempt to lose weight to ultimately save their family from dire health complications.
They’ve been making the changes without a personal trainer or nutritionist. They have used many internet searches and have worked to change their diet and “start moving.”
I love it that there are so many reality shows these days that can inspire each of us to lose weight and get healthier at home. This family is very endearing and I will be watching to see how they’ve done it. If you want to watch their journey too, One Big Happy Family premieres on TLC tomorrow at 9 p.m.-10 p.m ET.
This week’s issue of In Touch Weekly includes an interview the the latest Biggest Loser winner, Danny Cahill. He started the season at 430 lbs. and lost a record 239 lbs. on the show! He’s a real hero!
But here’s some of what he has to say in the interview:
“I would sit on the couch, watch TV, eat tons of food… I was the worst role model for my kids,” “My wife, who met me when I was 175 pounds, believed in me. She was a big reason that I was able to do it,” says Danny of Darci, who shed 65 pounds on her own. “What she did was bigger than what I did at the ranch!”

All the buzz has been about how much the two male finalists lost on the most recent season of the Biggest Loser. But the third finalist, America’s choice, Amanda Arlauskas did a fabulous job of taking off the pounds too! She lost 80 lbs. during the season!
In this week’s issue of In Touch Weekly, Amanda shares her diet secrets and how her life has changed after losing so much weight.
“I feel wonderful, and I’m the happiest I’ve ever been,” says Amanda, 20. “I can admit that I love myself for the very first time, so I feel like a winner!”
Here’s an excerpt from the interview:
Do you find you act differently in social situations now?
Amanda: In the past, I was kind of the girl who stayed to the side, never wanting to be the center of attention. Now I walk into a room and I’m glowing and happy, and I want to be the center of attention. I’m confident, and I don’t feel like I have to hide anymore. I’m not shy for people to see my new body and how hard I’ve worked.
Do you notice people treating you differently?
Amanda: I get a lot of male attention now, and it’s a lot for me to take because I never really had that before! I was always told, “You have such a pretty face,” but I knew my body was always keeping me back from anything really happening. Now I have a lot of guys trying to talk to me and get in touch with me, and it’s flattering — but I’m definitely not used to it!
Do you have any tips on staying motivated?
Amanda: My biggest motivation is looking at before pictures and thinking about how sad I was. I worked so hard, and I can’t imagine going back. I just felt like a horrible person when I was overweight because that wasn’t who I was inside. I was tied to this ball and chain because I was overweight. Right now, I feel the best I’ve ever felt.
What was the hardest part of being on the show?
Amanda: Exposing your life to millions of people and allowing cameras to film you 24 hours a day, getting on a scale in almost no clothes and letting people see that dreaded number on the scale. But then the next day, they can catch you at your best moment. That was the ultimate reward!
Be sure to read the rest of Amanda’s interview in this week’s issue of In Touch.
Tonight was the season finale of the Biggest Loser and it’s always so fun to see how everyone has transformed during the competition. The excitement started when we found out that Amanda was chosen as the third finalist, along with Danny & Rudy. It’s a shame that Liz couldn’t be a finalist too.
Here’s how the first 13 contestants did in their final weigh in together:
Rebecca won the $100,000 prize for losing the highest percentage of weight of those who were eliminated. She looks absolutely incredible! All of them are totally transformed.
Then they called Shay out of the group to surprise her. They told her that Subway will pay her $1000 for every additional pound she loses between now and the season 9 finale. She’ll be back to weigh in then. This is wonderful news! I so wanted her to be able to get to her goal!!
Antoine surprised Alexandra by dropping to his knee and proposing to her. Of course, she said yes! How cool!
Then finally we got to see the three finalists weigh in:
Danny won the $250,000 by losing over 55% of his body weight! The numbers are incredible! I’ll be posting photos of the transformations tomorrow, so be sure to check back!
