It’s no secret that two of my favorite Amazing Race veterans are Kynt & Vyxsin, the Goths from several seasons ago. They were so much fun to talk to and have such a wonderful attitude. And the word that really describes their attitude toward others is the idea of “inclusiveness.” They come from a place of acceptance of people’s differences. That’s one of the things I like about them the most.
So I was thrilled to run across some photos of them in a holiday fashion show to benefit The Amanda Foundation. The show was entitled A Christmas Story and here’s how they dressed:
No, Jenna Morasca does not have cancer, but she has been dating fellow Survivor winner Ethan Zahn since 2003 and he has had his Hodgkin’s disease return. She has vowed to stay and fight it with him.
We all remember that Jenna left the Survivor: All-Stars season early because she wanted to be with her mother who was dying of cancer. She’s had a lot of experience being supportive of cancer patients. And this time, she plans to help him be a winner over it.
Here’s what Jenna says about finding out about the return of Ethan’s cancer:
“I was going to fight tooth and nail, with every fiber of my being, until he was better,” Jenna tells In Touch. “Our goal was making cancer our bitch!”
Jenna has done an interview in the current issue of In Touch Weekly and she talks at length about the battle she has undertaken to help Ethan. Here’s a short excerpt from the interview:
How did you react to the news that he was sick?
I was shocked. I had been through it with my mom, who died from cancer, so I felt like, “Why is this happening again?” But it brought me and my dad closer because I was able to rely on him for his experience with her. He is a savior. Also, I’m lucky to have an incredible group of women around me who have borne the same burden.
How has it affected your relationship?
We’ve learned things about each other and the value of our relationship that we may have never discovered if we had never been faced with this challenge. It’s a team effort. We are going to come out stronger.
Is marriage next?
Before, I would have said I didn’t know, but I think now, we owe it to ourselves and to our families to do some sort of wedding. I’m trying to get him to just go to Las Vegas. How romantic would it be? Then we could do a big ceremony later. All I care about is the cake!
Be sure to read the rest of Jenna’s interview, in this week’s issue of In Touch.
This week’s issue of In Touch Weekly includes an interview the the latest Biggest Loser winner, Danny Cahill. He started the season at 430 lbs. and lost a record 239 lbs. on the show! He’s a real hero!
But here’s some of what he has to say in the interview:
“I would sit on the couch, watch TV, eat tons of food… I was the worst role model for my kids,” “My wife, who met me when I was 175 pounds, believed in me. She was a big reason that I was able to do it,” says Danny of Darci, who shed 65 pounds on her own. “What she did was bigger than what I did at the ranch!”

You remember Jaime Edmonson from Amazing Race 14, right? She was half of the quarrelling football cheerleaders team who would lie and flirt their way through every challenge. Now Jaime will be very visible in her new role as Playboy’s January Playmate of the Month 2010. It seems that after she returned from the Amazing Race, Hugh Hefner called to ask if she would be interested in posing for the magazine.
As a self-proclaimed “feisty, fearless, redheaded adventuress,” Miss January looks forward to ringing in 2010 with “no resolutions, and no fear of the unknown.” She declares, “I’m amazed I’m here. I’m fastening my seat belt and looking forward to a year of amazing adventures. This is going to be the best New Year’s ever!”
The January/February Playboy double issue will be on newsstands and online at www.playboydigital.com tomorrow.
This is a reality series that I might even love to try out for. It’s a new reality series called Master Chef that will air on FOX where acclaimed chef Gordon Ramsay will mentor and teach amateur cooks to become master chefs!
Having spoken to him several times I can tell you that he’s a very nice person when he’s not working on Hell’s Kitchen. He has very exacting standards, but he is absolutely fair. So don’t be intimidated by his gruff personality on that show. Rather, be more aware of how he is with the restaurant owners on his other show Kitchen Nightmares.
Right now, this new cooking show from the creators of the Biggest Loser is searching for budding chefs with aspirations to become better. They will not be casting professional chefs or people who work in a professional kitchen. They are, instead looking for devoted foodies and people who love to cook and want to become real chefs. They don’t want people with formal training, but people who are passionate about learning more. It sounds exciting!!
MasterChef is a show that celebrates great people who make great food. The show will give contestants the opportunity to develop their cooking skills while being encouraged, mentored and celebrated by the industry’s best and evaluated by world-renowned judges!

After international singing sensation Susan Boyle took the stage in the Britian’s Got Talent competition earlier this year, things have not been the same for her. She comes from humble beginnings and now has an album at the top of the charts.
Piers Morgan, judge for both the US and the UK versions of Got Talent is the host for a special about Susan Boyle and seems very proud to have helped to discover her and to launch her career.
The one-hour special will also feature members of the London West End cast of Les Miserables. Be sure to set your DVR to catch it if you are busy because it promises to be both interesting and enjoyable. The show will air on the TV Guide Network on Sunday, December 13 at 8:00 p.m. ET/PT.
Last night on the Top Chef Las Vegas finale, the chefs were surprised when they all got a visit from their mothers. Poor Mrs. Voltaggio was there to support both of her sons as they went head-to-head in the finale. It was really touching that Bryan & Michael both said that they wanted to win, but if they didn’t, they wanted it to be the other brother.
Each of the three finalists was given two of the season’s eliminated chefs to act as their sous chefs and they were each given a box of odd ingredients with which they had to create one dish. (It reminded me a bit of the Food Network show, Chopped). They had to each create a dessert and once the moms were there, they each found out that they would also have to reinvent their favorite childhood dish. So they each created four courses in the meal for the judges:
When they went to the judges’ table, Kevin was unfortunately told he did not win and it came down to the final two, the Voltaggio brothers. After some discussion, Michael was named the most recent Top Chef.
Personally, I enjoyed the brotherly rivalry this season. They were both incredibly talented and they dominated many of the challenges. It was really cool that it came down to the two of them in the end. And very fitting. I would have been satisfied with any of the final three as the winner, but happy that it was Michael. It was a great Top Chef season!
What did you think of this season of the show? Were you happy that Michael won? Let us know!
Tonight was the season finale of the Biggest Loser and it’s always so fun to see how everyone has transformed during the competition. The excitement started when we found out that Amanda was chosen as the third finalist, along with Danny & Rudy. It’s a shame that Liz couldn’t be a finalist too.
Here’s how the first 13 contestants did in their final weigh in together:
Rebecca won the $100,000 prize for losing the highest percentage of weight of those who were eliminated. She looks absolutely incredible! All of them are totally transformed.
Then they called Shay out of the group to surprise her. They told her that Subway will pay her $1000 for every additional pound she loses between now and the season 9 finale. She’ll be back to weigh in then. This is wonderful news! I so wanted her to be able to get to her goal!!
Antoine surprised Alexandra by dropping to his knee and proposing to her. Of course, she said yes! How cool!
Then finally we got to see the three finalists weigh in:
Danny won the $250,000 by losing over 55% of his body weight! The numbers are incredible! I’ll be posting photos of the transformations tomorrow, so be sure to check back!
Ace Young, the former American Idol contestant, sang his new song “Scattered” on the Really Awards show.
I loved it. What do you think?
Two of last season’s Biggest Loser contestants, Matt Hoover and Suzy Preston, got married recently in Jamaica. According to People magazine, it was a small, intimate ceremony on the beach.
I’d say that this has to be one of the couples in contention for the showmance of the year, even if they weren’t shown as a dating couple on the show. I guess we’ll have to keep watching this season to see if any of the current contestants fall in love on the show.
