Most Haunted Live 2006 – Halloween
Nov 1st, 2006 by Lynn DeVries

Tonight the team explores and investigates Mary King’s Close in Edinbrough, Scotland.

Again, they start to get really loud banging right away. Ciaran O’Keefe, the parapsychologist, warns that after last night’s events, the crew might be vulnerable to psychological responses that may seem like new phenomena.

The historian, Leslie Smith, tells of people living in the area underground, were fighting the plague, poverty and hardships. We could find some very interesting things here.

The team started by asking controlled questions and waiting for the knocks to answer. One of the questions was asking the spirit how many people they see in the room and it knocked loudly 14 times. There were, in fact, 14 people in the room. It happened twice with the same results. Cool!

Yvette jumped on the floor 4 times and the spirit knocked loudly 4 times in response. David said that it was a woman telling them to get out. Her name is Bessie Boyd and she’s from the 17th century. They asked if that was correct and she knocked twice for yes. She died of disease in that location. She’s telling them tog et out to protect them.

The historian confirmed that on Christmas of 1644 the plague struck. Poverty and people living in cramped and unsanitary conditions. Apparently, the doctors wore large beak-like masks stuffed with herbs to try to kill the horrible smell. I always wondered about that. They did look pretty bizarre, though.

The audience member, Laura Hamilton, was chosen to accompany the team on the investigation. I would love to do that! How cool would that be?

Stuart did join the team again this evening. He said that he was still shaken up.

David, Stuart and Karl put their hands in a hole in the wall and felt something touch their hands. The audience member, Laura put her hand in there and didn’t feel anything. Ciaran put his hand in and he felt static, like his hair was standing up on the hand.

The historian confirms that there was a man in 1635, Steven Boyd and he and his wife, Bessie did live there.

They used a heat meter to see that some coins in a small room were actually giving off heat. David picked up the spirits of a number of children in the same room.

Stuart saw a dark shape behind Karl just as he felt something tug on his coat. Several crew members heard a growl and a scraping sound. They were in a room where David said a masked doctor was tending to a number of sick people and those who were dying or dead. David said he could see him saying “Give me my money.” The historian confirmed that a Dr. Ray survived the plague and did demand a pension for having taken care of the plague victims in that location.

They decided to do a seance in a room where there seemed to be a lot of activity. The table moved, the tapping continued and Yvette and Stuart felt cold on their hands and Ciaran was able to show a temperature difference around their hands.

Then they moved to a new location where the local medium said there’s a malevolent spirit that doesn’t like women. I wonder why all the men they encounter from the earlier centuries hate women so much, when they themselves seem to be the mean ones…just a thought.

A small stone dropped near them with no explanation. David picked up on several new entities in this location. “They asked some control questions of a male figure and he confirmed that he lived and died in that place in the 1800s. The spirit confirmed that he didn’t mean them any harm, but would like them to leave. Wiggin felt some “breath” on his neck. Sally (one of the crew members) left the location because of very bad stomach pains.

Next, they go to rooms in the Close that no one has ever investigated for paranormal activity before. Over and over during the evening, every time Yvette touches Karl, (her actual husband) the spirit Bessie knocks. It’s interesting.

Paul, in the studio, joked with Yvette saying that she and Karl should be careful this evening because Bessie might try to join them in a “three in a bed romp.” What a hoot!

In the new previously sealed room, the air was apparently very heavy with dust and a putrid smell. I suppose that’s not too surprising if the room has been sealed for many years. They closed themselves in the previously sealed room and heard more growling, tapping and dragging sounds. They heard something (and it could be heard by us too) that sounded like glass breaking, but they couldn’t find any glass anywhere.

The overall impression was so much less terrifying than last night. The spirits weren’t nearly as aggressive and there were a lot of children’s spirits tonight. When asked if the crew would consider returning to the location of last night’s Live show for another Most Haunted investigation, they said yes, but only with body armor on.

If you think you’d like to follow the investigations of the Most Haunted crew, be sure to tune in for their regular show on the Travel Channel. they always manage to keep things interesting.

Tonight the crew investigates Niddry Street and Nichol Edwards Vaults in Edinburgh, Scotland. The historian promises that we will see some disturbing things this evening and that there’s a history of witchcraft and a misogynistic poltergeist. Cool!!

A fellow from the audience named Brendan (sorry, I didn’t catch his last name) was chosen to join the group.

As soon as the team got to the location, they began to hear bangs and taps. A lot of them got headaches and felt dizzy again this time and it looks like another strange investigation is about to happen.

The first room they enter has been set up for some sort of ritual and David Wells, the psychic medium says that it’s for some sort of pagan or wicca ceremony. There’s a very large pentacle painted in the middle of the floor. It looks like it’s new stuff that’s been set up for tourists, but in a very old room.

According to David, they are in the presence of two spirit people, one a gentle woman who was misunderstood and was blamed for things she didn’t do and one an angry cruel man who practiced the dark arts and hates women. Yuck!

After leaving that room, the started to hear the banging again. They also heard some moaning and a woman’s voice.

Next, they entered a room where everything echoes and David said that 5 new spirit people had joined them. A stone came flying across the room and made a big noise. This time, thank goodness, no one was hit. They started to ask questions and there would be two taps in response to questions.

The name of the woman that David came up with was confirmed by the historian as the correct name for a woman who died in a fire, just as he described. She was burned to death as a “witch” even though apparently, she was not one. The historian confirmed pretty much everything that David and the crew have come up with so far. Pretty cool!

Poor Stuart got attacked by the spirit. He was standing near the wall and started to scream that he felt like he’d been stabbed, then they pulled off his shirt and there were big gashes all over his back. The crew has medical people take him out of the vaults. Whoa! Pretty spooky stuff! BE SURE YOU WATCH THIS TOMORROW ON HALLOWEEN!

Ciaran, the skeptic said that there’s no normal reason that should have happened. Then David Wells said that it was poltergeist activity.

The sound man, John suddenly got a big, bleeding gash on his leg and had to go get medical attention too.

Paranormal investigators in the audience confirmed that these are the types of things that normally happen when investigating this location.

Now the team moves into the Nichol Edwards Vault, a place that has never before been investigated for paranormal activity. Karl got scratches on the back of his neck here. David got a severe crushing feeling in his chest. Yvette was overcome with emotion. The whole crew has been through a lot and it’s been an extraordinary thing to watch.

To finish off the vigil, they decided to hold a seance in the same room where Stuart and John were attacked. Karl got some more scratches, this time, on his back. John, the sound man, got another deep, bleeding gash in his leg.

The team decided then to call off the vigil for the night. I don’t blame them!! What a night!

Don’t miss it tomorrow!

The group is in Edinburgh, Scotland investigating first the Blair Street Vaults. There’s history of body snatchers bringing bodies here, people have seen and heard phantoms and voices in the vaults and the group tries to make contact.

The brought the psychic medium, David Wells, with them and he began to pick up spiritual energy from the very beginning os the investigation. They also brought a thermometer with them to take readings. They also have a new camera man, Jeff, who is pretty creeped out by things. Another crew member, Stuart, started to feel physically sick to his stomach and Cath felt a sense of foreboding, all within the first few minutes in the location.

They’ve felt funny fellings and heard footsteps and doors banging, tapping sounds. They confirmed that no one besides them was in the vaults. David explains that each of the investigators should call the “door keepers” or protective spirits to protect the group during the visit.

They chose audience member, Kimberly Parker to join the crew in the vaults and she accompanied Ciaran O’Keefe to join the rest. What a blast that would be!!

They set out trigger object with cameras on them to see if anything moved and could be caught on camera. Many times they would ask a question and would hear tapping in response. They seemed to be in contact with a small child who was walking among them. Very cool!

The disappointing thing watching this on tape is that we don’t get a chance to watch the live web cams they have set up to keep an eye on the trigger objects, but those watching live are sending messages saying that they are able to see orbs, dark figures and such in the various rooms.

The brand new camera man, Jeff, got hit in the face with a small rock. They caught it on tape, but it was during a commercial break. They had to rewind and play it back in the studio. Apparently, the spirit is aggressive and can throw things. No wonder they all seem a little spooked out.

The studio audience contained two paranormal investigators and a psychic medium that have previously investigated the Vaults. They both confirmed that rocks have been thrown at people there and the things they are experiencing are typical.

The historian in the studio described the poverty and misery of the people that lived there in the 18th century. She said that these people lived in there with no sanitation, no food, no daylight, TB, mostly illiterate…it sounds horrible. Most of the people that lived there had no names recorded. Even the physicians that went in there to try to help, never made it back out. A pretty ominous place, indeed.

They decided to do a seance to try to communicate with the spirits. Two of the crew members taking part came down with horrible headaches. They all stared to hear tapping and the table moved. Something hit David Wells on the arm. They felt that they were in contact with a woman who had been killed there. During the seance, the thermometer dropped quite a lot in the other room.

Last year, the show had a lot more time devoted to the folks in the studio. I guess there was more uneventful time to fill where they were then. This year, there’s been almost constant activity to watch so we’ve seen almost none of the activity in the studio. Very cool!!

Bottle kept falling over on their own and Stuart was overwhelmed by a spirit at one point and threw Karl against the wall. Stuart left the group in order to pull himself together. Pretty spooky!!

Kimberly, the audience member left the investigation early and described a ‘close’ feeling and a bad headache she felt while down there.

Another seance in the room where Stuart had been overcome resulted in taps, footsteps, then Karl and the boom man John both collapsed. They had both been dizzy. Then Yvette said that her legs had gotten weak and she collapsed. They all seemed quite upset about things and were sent out to get some air.

David Wells told the remaining group that the negative spiritual energy was going after each one at a time. Even the sceptic, Ciaran, started getting a headache and they all seemed disoriented. It was all kinda scary!

They drew names of the crew and left the chosen crew member, Wiggin, alone in the vaults with a webcam. He says that he’s nauseous and hears growls. The rest went back to the studio. All I can say is that it sucks to be him.

According to Yvette, it’s the first time she and the crew have ever felt forced out of a place they were investigating.

Wiggin started staggering and got dizzy. Yvette told security to go get him. He didn’t want to leave right away. How weird!

This has truly been and eventful vigil! If you missed this, you surely won’t want to miss it tomorrow!! Yvette says that she’s seen tomorrow’s location and it’s worse than this one. Be sure to record it!

Most Haunted Live 2006 – Night 1
Ghost Hunters Live Will Air on Halloween
Oct 29th, 2006 by Lynn DeVries

Following in the footsteps of the Most Haunted Live shows, the SciFi channel’s Ghost Hunters will hold their own live show on Halloween evening. Since I’ll be watching the Most Haunted Live show all three days on the Travel Channel (thanks, TiVo!!) it seems only fair to watch Ghost Hunters Live and report on that one too.

Is it just me, or is there a lot more to watch about the paranormal this year? I know I’m enjoying it. It’s a safe way to think about the possibility of ghosts, without having to go on the ghost hunting expedition ourselves.

This is the second year that Most Haunted has had a multi-day investigation around Halloween. Ghost Hunters will be diong it for the first time this year. Most Haunted Live is three days of three-hour shows and Ghost Hunters Live is only one day, but six-hours long. The comparison will be great to watch.

Of the two regular shows, I personally like the Most Haunted show better. They take psychic mediums with no prior knowledge of the haunting and we get to see the things they com up with in the location, most of which can be substantiated by actual facts and history. Other than that, both shows take all the cool night vision cameras, EVP recording devices and all kinds of meters with them on their investigations. They’re both good shows and they both come up with some fascinating results, but I personally enjoy the seances and the mediums on MH. That’s just me.

I recommend both shows highly and encourage you to set your recording devices to catch them both.

Happy Halloween! :-)

Three Day Ghostly Adventure – Don't Miss It!
Oct 25th, 2006 by Lynn DeVries

There’s no adventure more exciting than investigating the paranormal. And what better time of the year than around Halloween?

The Travel Channel’s Most Haunted returns with another year’s Halloween week treat, Most Haunted Live! Here in the US, it will air in the afternoons. I’m more than sure that it’s not actually live here. But we can join in on all the fun anyway, we just may have to set our TiVo or VCR to catch the shows if we’re at work.

Last year, the show explored the areas of the Jack the Ripper murders, in hopes of picking up clues about the unsolved mystery. They had some strange occurances, people chosen live from the studio audience joined the crew on site, and even had a dog react to what they thought was a spirit person.

This year, they explore Edinburgh, Scotland. There’s no telling what they’ll find while they are there, so we should all tune in to find out! For three days, October 29, 30 and 31, they will air three-hour live shows of their ghost hunting adventures. Be sure to keep the lights on while you watch!!
