This week’s episode of Project Runway offered the winner of the challenge the most incredible prize ever offered on Project Runway. The winning look would be worn by Heidi Klum on the cover of the April issue of Marie Claire magazine. WOW!
The magazine’s editor in chief, Joanna Coles gave them some very important rules to follow in their designs:
So of course, half of them created beige, black or patterned outfits and there were both pants and shorts.
The quote of the night was from Joanna Coles, who told this to Anna:
It’s like three ingredients in a dish that leave you feeling slightly nauseous.
And she responded to Janeane saying that her garment was inspired by the ocean:
I’m not getting the beach and the sea reference. Unless it’s a sort of polluted sea with plastic bottles in it. [OUCH!]
The garments loved the most by the judges all were in vibrant colors. The top three looks were those of Ben, Anthony & Emilio. The winning look was that of Anthony.
I liked his look the best and love his personality. So it was great to see him win! His short bright teal dress with the ruffles on the front was beautiful and perfect for Heidi.
The worst looks were those of Mila, Anna & Janeane. Anna’s strange short outfit was just too far off the mark and she was eliminated.
What did you think of the designs for this challenge? Were you happy that Anthony won? Who did you expect to go home? Let us know!
This week, fashion designer and Project Runway winner Christian Siriano was spotted by paparazzi as he enjoyed a night out in New York City. The black trench coat and overall look he wore fits perfectly with the signature Christian style we all grew to love on the show. He’s definitely still looking fierce!

On last night’s episode of Project Runway, the designers were taken to a farm where all of the models waited, wearing burlap potato sacks. Time told them that they would work for their clients, the models, this time and make a dress out of potato sacks that the models can wear to an industry party.
When the models chose their designers, they weren’t as loyal as the designers had been to them. Several of them mixed it up and chose different designers. It really shook some of the designers up a bit.
The designers did things like embellish their burlap with ribbons, buttons and used vats of fabric dye to make them look richer. I was amazed at what they could come up with out of nothing more than burlap.
The guest judge this week was Lauren Hutton. I have to hand it to her. She still looks amazing!
When the garments came down the runway, the one that I absolutely disliked the most was that of Ping. How she didn’t get eliminated this week is beyond me! Her model’s bum was hanging out and the sides of the hips were like giant pouches. This was NOT a flattering garment, or even a garment that anyone would wear anywhere!
Instead, the judges hated the garments of Jesus (which I actually thought was pretty nice) and Pamela. Pamela’s dress wasn’t flattering to her model’s figure, but it was far better than Ping’s. I can’t figure it out.
The judges told Jay that his was the winner this week. I liked it too, but would have chosen Amy’s garment instead. Pamela was sent home.
Which of the garments this week was your favorite? What do you think of Ping’s dress? I’m interested in hearing what you think about it.
My personal feelings are that it would be a big mistake for Project Runway to return to Los Angeles. I wasn’t the only one who was less than enthused about last season. It just didn’t have the same feel to it and the show almost lost me. I love it that they are back in New York. But here’s what Heidi Klum had to say recently about it:
“We like to change it up, we like to go back and fourth,” the Project Runway judge announced. “So, the [next season] will probably be back in LA again,” Heidi Klum declared. [Source: BuddyTV]
Everyone associated with the show admits that the fact that the designers can walk to Mood to get their fabrics and walk to locations for most of the challenges, everything is so much easier to produce. Here’s how Michael Kors feels about filming the show in New York:
Michael Kors said, “When you think about it, the walks from Parsons to Mood, you could have 500 inspirations within a minute. The bar is raised. I think the energy level is full-tilt boogie. It’s New York. Nothing stops here.” [Source: BuddyTV]
Last night we saw the season premiere of the seventh season of Project Runway. I was thrilled to see that the show had back its same look and personality from seasons past. It’s set in New York again and it’s amazing how the feel of the show changed. I missed it last season!
The new designers are awesome! Every single one of them is very talented and it’s going to be amazing to see who wins. The competition is going to be “fierce!”
My favorite designers’ personalities are Anthony and Ping. Both are very unique and have cool personalities. However, I’m not too sure that I appreciate Ping’s design aesthetic. Her garment looked like a bunch of fabric that was just thrown at the model. Perhaps I’ll understand better as the season goes on.
After Heidi Klum & Tim Gunn greeted the designers on the roof with the customary toast, they got settled in and ready for the first challenge.
The next morning, they met Tim in Central Park and had three minutes to dash & grab all the Mood fabric they could. Then Tim gave them a couple of minutes to edit down to the best 5 fabrics for their first garment. They were given one day to create a garment that fully shows their unique design style.
I’ve included photos of all of the runway garments for you to enjoy, but my personal favorite was Emilio’s dress. His was the challenge winner, giving him immunity. But I also liked the garments by Maya, SethAaron, Jonathan & Anna
I expected either Ping or Christiane to go home. But the judges saw something in Ping’s garment that they liked so the one to go home first was Christiane.
I thought it was fun to have Nicole Richie as a guest judge this week. She seems so sweet. Even when she had criticism, she said it in a kind way. I really liked her as a judge.
I loved this episode! What did you think of the new group of designers? I’d love to hear your thoughts!
