If you’re like me, you like to see what happens to the racers when they are eliminated from the Amazing Race. In this week’s Elimination Station, Monique & Shawne join the others in Puerto Vallarta. The place they are staying is breathtakingly beautiful! Check it out:
On this week’s episode of the Amazing Race, the racers left the Pit Stop in Chile and had to take one of two busses on a 6-hour ride through the Andes Mountains toward Argentina.
Once there, they had to drive themselves to an old saloon called El Boliche Viejo to play a game of five-card stud against the Travelocity Gnome to get the next clue.
Brent & Caite were suffering from food poisoning and were getting severely dehydrated. They headed for medical care instead of leaving the Pit Stop on time.
They were delayed by several hours, but since the busses didn’t leave until morning, it didn’t put them behind. Everyone left on the busses at the same time.
When they got to the saloon and played cards, where they had to win a hand in order to get the Gnome with the next clue on the bottom. It told them to “Hoof it to Peña Gaucha” for the next clue.
It was a Road Block. One person on each team would have to perform a traditional gaucho duty, steer roping. This challenge seemed almost custom made for the cowboys…they finished in record time.
Next the teams had to drive themselves to Puente Nirihuau to get the next clue. It was a Detour. They had to choose between Horse Sense and Horse Power.
In Horse Sense, they would have to get a set of coordinates, then follow an old-time compass and follow the compass by counting out a specific number of steps to find a bag of stolen money, buried in the ground. They had to deliver it to the lead bandit at the train station to get the next clue.
In Horse Power, they had to go to a polo field, don appropriate attire, then move a practice pony down the field. They would alternate turns, trying to score a goal to get the next clue.
Next they had to make their way to Estancia Forin Chacabuco to the next Pit Stop. They checked in at the Pit Stop in this order:
What did you think of the challenges the racers faced in this leg of the race? Do you think they unfairly favored the cowboys or does it all even out overall?
I have to admit that I still favor Jeff & Jordan, since rooting for them all last summer on Big Brother 11. Who do you hope wins this season? Leave a comment to let us know!

Next week on Survivor: Heroes vs. Villains, the castaways find out that there are two Immunity Idols hidden on the island. Russell is the champ for finding them, but will he this time? And how will this change the dynamics of the game? Take a look:
On this week’s episode of Survivor: Heroes vs. Villains, Tom felt betrayed by JT because of the way he voted at last week’s Tribal Counsel. JT apologized, but Tom still held feelings of mistrust but he felt he could still work with JT to be able to stay longer.
Meanwhile, Parvati was doing her best to beguile all the men on the Villains tribe. Coach swears it doesn’t work on him, but Russell seems under the evil spell. Coach & Jerri seem close too, with Coach stroking her hair as she sleeps. And Boston Rob gives us the key to figuring out who is aligned with whom in Survivor:
Watch how they sleep. They won’t usually sleep next to the guy they are going to send home.
Rupert worried that the Heroes were not a cohesive team. But then they bonded while catching more chickens. Tom is still great at wrangling things. First it was the shark, now it’s chickens.
Coach & Boston Rob were trying to get the Russell and the rest of the Villains to vote off Parvati. Russell was still talking his cocky talk and wasn’t convinced. He ran straight to Parvati and told her.
Russell decided to play his games and he buried the machete. That means no fire, no chickens and no coconuts. He said that he planned to hide Rob’s hat too.
At the Immunity Challenge, the Heroes handed the Villains their a$$es. They had to square off, sumo style and had to use a bag to knock the other person off of a platform into mud. The Heroes won 8 out of 9 rounds. They won Immunity, coffee, sugar, rice and items from home.
The Villains were torn between sending home Randy or Parvati. Both of them were campaigning to stay. At Tribal Counsel, they voted and sent Randy home.
This could be a dangerous decision for them. Parvati is not to be trusted. What are your thoughts about this episode? Who do you think they should have sent home? Leave a comment to let us know!

This is priceless! It’s the David Letterman Survivor Top Ten List. Ten of the current castaways read the Top 10 list. My favorites are the ones read by Boston Rob and Rupert. But it’s all a lot of fun. Check it out:
I can’t tell you how very sad I am today to report that Survivor: Palau veteran Jenn Lyon lost her battle with breast cancer on Tuesday evening.
I had the privilege of meeting and sharing some wonderful laughs and fun with Jenn at a charity event in her honor in the fall of 2008. She was one of the kindest, most thoughtful people I have had the pleasure to meet. I had hoped that she would be able to beat the cancer with her strength and positive attitude. Sadly, she died at home after a five year battle. She was 37 years old.
Entertainment Weekly has a lengthy article about Jenn, and shares the words of Jeff Probst and her family members about her life. Here’s a short excerpt:
Jeff Probst: “Because the previous Christmas had been so rough, this year she decided to open a Christmas tree lot so she could extend the holidays for as long as possible. Then in typical Jenn fashion she made the decision to donate profits to the Susan Love Cancer Research Foundation. The tree lot was a major undertaking yet there she was every day doing her part to try to raise money to make sure nobody else had to ever endure the same struggle.” Kim Lyon: ‘Jenn worked so hard on the lot and they were kind of bummed they didn’t make much money off of it so if anyone wants to honor Jenn they can make a donation to the foundation. She would be touched.’

Jenn had a way of spreading joy and making everyone at ease with her. She was such a lovely spirit. She captured everyone’s hearts almost immediately. My thoughts and prayers go out to all of the people who loved Jenn. She’ll be missed by so many.
TiVo Alert!
Tomorrow night, CBS airs the People’s Choice Awards. Once again, the show will be hosted by the lovely Queen Latifah and should be a fun show, just in general. The show airs at 9:00 pm ET, so be sure to watch or record it! Here’s a promo clip of Queen Latifah telling us about this year’s show:
Here are the reality TV shows that have been nominated for People’s Choice Awards this year:
It’s no secret that two of my favorite Amazing Race veterans are Kynt & Vyxsin, the Goths from several seasons ago. They were so much fun to talk to and have such a wonderful attitude. And the word that really describes their attitude toward others is the idea of “inclusiveness.” They come from a place of acceptance of people’s differences. That’s one of the things I like about them the most.
So I was thrilled to run across some photos of them in a holiday fashion show to benefit The Amanda Foundation. The show was entitled A Christmas Story and here’s how they dressed:
No, Jenna Morasca does not have cancer, but she has been dating fellow Survivor winner Ethan Zahn since 2003 and he has had his Hodgkin’s disease return. She has vowed to stay and fight it with him.
We all remember that Jenna left the Survivor: All-Stars season early because she wanted to be with her mother who was dying of cancer. She’s had a lot of experience being supportive of cancer patients. And this time, she plans to help him be a winner over it.
Here’s what Jenna says about finding out about the return of Ethan’s cancer:
“I was going to fight tooth and nail, with every fiber of my being, until he was better,” Jenna tells In Touch. “Our goal was making cancer our bitch!”
Jenna has done an interview in the current issue of In Touch Weekly and she talks at length about the battle she has undertaken to help Ethan. Here’s a short excerpt from the interview:
How did you react to the news that he was sick?
I was shocked. I had been through it with my mom, who died from cancer, so I felt like, “Why is this happening again?” But it brought me and my dad closer because I was able to rely on him for his experience with her. He is a savior. Also, I’m lucky to have an incredible group of women around me who have borne the same burden.
How has it affected your relationship?
We’ve learned things about each other and the value of our relationship that we may have never discovered if we had never been faced with this challenge. It’s a team effort. We are going to come out stronger.
Is marriage next?
Before, I would have said I didn’t know, but I think now, we owe it to ourselves and to our families to do some sort of wedding. I’m trying to get him to just go to Las Vegas. How romantic would it be? Then we could do a big ceremony later. All I care about is the cake!
Be sure to read the rest of Jenna’s interview, in this week’s issue of In Touch.
